Truly a skill worthy of high praise! (Aaaahhhhhh— ArtSlam in two days! D8 TIME TO SLAP STUFF TOGETHER!)

I know, I know. It’s been carefully cultivated in time-sensitive scenarios my whole life!

YES ONLY TWO DAYS SWEET LORD. I HOPE EVERYONE ELSE IS EXCITED BECAUSE I’M PRETTY EXCITED.

I love how I can say I’ll spend time working on scripting for something I’m doing in 48 hours and then dick around the rest of the day drawing my characters naked

A pie I made today! It has a few leftover freezer blueberries in it, but most of it is serviceberries picked fresh from this morning. It’s been topped with a rather experimental Créme de Cassis meringue. The booze made it too loose even after a thorough bake, and I belatedly realized the serviceberries need far less sugar than most fruits, but it’s delicious all the same.
THINGS TO CHANGE NEXT TIME:
Less sugar
Bake meringue straight
Add tartness+booze by making a Créme de Cassis-and-currant curd to go between the meringue and berry layers

fuckyeahdiomedes asked: I just wanna say that I love your art because of all the mythology stuff. Have you ever done a drawing of a Dullahan (Irish headless horseman, totally badass) because they are my favorite mythical/folkloric creatures ever.

You know, you’re the second person to mention the Dullahan to me in as many weeks! I’m embarrassed to admit I didn’t really know about them before that. So no, I haven’t drawn one yet. It’s awesome and on my list now, though, so you may be seeing one soon!

Conclusion: .005 mm pen is fabulous, but if I tried to draw a comic with it I would die.

And again, something for the upcoming ArtSlam. I was originally going to spend a month working on character/setting stuff and then two months drawing a comic, but I’ve started to desperately scrape together character designs and plot because now I want to do THREE months of comic. hahahahasldfkdlg
ANYWAY. This is Asha, one of the three main characters (one isn’t designed yet and the third is the manticore. All three are vaguely associated/symbolized by a specific character from European faerie tales, and Asha’s personality, faults, and role in the story are mirrored to Prince Charming. GOTTA KICK BUTT, gotta make out with that sleepin’ chick, dang is this a magic sword oh heck yes is it. YEEHAW.Related thing:

I’m thinking about doing mostly traditional-medium pages with inks, kinda like this. Better decide quickly.

A really quick Aku sketch for a friend who celebrated her birthday yesterday! I’m digging this pose, though, so maybe I’ll pursue the picture further (I probably would have done so today, but dang if I ain’t pooped out). Happy belated 18th, Teacup!

jynxie:

Shut up, this was fun and I thought it was cute…
And I need to figure out Skyler’s knife sheaths. lD

NEW CANON: Xavier’s hairfeathers are too fluffy for Skyler to resist and he gets a bit put out by her petting him and is like, “I’m not a dog, quite thaaAaAaaaaaaa…aaaa okay little to the left.”
And she never stops teasing him about it.

Jynxie and I have been conspiring about a collaboration for…ages, actually, but I haven’t gotten much done aside from thinking up the adorkable ways our characters would act around each other. Skyler belongs to her, Xavier is my boy, and if I’m 100% honest with myself I probably ship them a little DON’T JUDGE ME
If you’re wondering why they’re goofing around with octopuses, it’s because they’re actually these:

Squawktopusus are basically colorful cephalopods with external gills resembling feathers, and spend a few months a year completely airborn, drifting around in a mass migration like a bunch of weird balloons. They’re considered pests (like seagulls, almost), but are pretty friendly animals and don’t mind getting squished around. And the little baby ones are CUTE.

Hi! I’m Shar(o)n, and I can’t pin down just one cryptid I like—but I fuckin’ love the monsters from Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them, even if it is a silly Harry Potter spinoff. I like to draw and cook and think about making comics.

I followed you because your art is SO UNIQUE AND PRETTY IT MAKES ME DUMB AT WORDS, and then it turned out you’re also really smart and sweet, too! If I could afford it, I would plaster my entire room with prints of your stuff. okay bye

This is one of those comments that I want to just lie down and bask in the glow for a while. If I was still a thirteen-year-old on deviantArt, the reply to this would have about a million of those little heart emoticons.

BUT BASICALLY, you’re def. a cool person and it seems like we share a bunch of interests, which is even cooler. Thank you!

Yo (this is Wolfyu/Rowkey), I found you through artslam a year ago. I admire your productivity and how you aren’t afraid to experiment with media!

You know, I really wish I’d introduced myself to you properly when ArtSlam was happening. I enjoyed your work quite a lot! Are you participating this year?

hi i play ragnarok online too much and draw people wiht large eyebrows. you are awesome with similar interests and lovely art hello!!

Why, thank you! I am delighted to meet another person who appreciates the importance of a well-eyebrowed head.

Hello! I’m El, I stumbled across your Old Testament angel pics and thought your art was fantastic. My favorite monster/supernatural things are pookas, werewolves and “fearsome critters” from American folklore.

I think a lot of people found me that way, now that you mention it. And POOKAS, oh yeah! So underappreciated, ssssso good. Like kelpies, except with cooler powers and not water-based and also not evil. So not like kelpies, I guess.
