Old doodlies. None are really current (the sketchy ref I posted yesterday is what these lead up to) but they’re still kinda fun to look at! I get embarrassed about old stuff sometimes but it’s always neat to see a design evolve.
Playin VTM this quarter and it should come as no surprise to anyone that I picked the BEST AND MOST CUTEST CLAN OF THEM ALL for my character.
Jeb is easily my most moe character
I’m having hella fun inking this sketch, but I really feel like it should be a painting given what I wanna do with the compostition. WHO KNOWS. I might ink it for funsies and then paint it separately for the final.
ohnogangsters asked: dang im totally in love with your sketches omg your art is FANTASTIC
Aw dude, thank you! Sorry for holding onto your question for so long, but I tend to horde the sweet ones for a while before answering. Glad you like my stuff! <3
worwolf asked: never do anything without ink again ok. thanku 4 ur time.
I…I just might. Brush pens have stolen my heart and I may never go back.
HELLO EVERYONE. GUESS WHAT.
Our kickstarter has launched.
We’ve got some killer artwork, created by killer artists whose work will thrill (but not kill) you. We’ve got a goal of $12,000.
The book itself not only features dozens of illustrations, but several comic shorts by our talented artists—as well as a personal bio pages with illustrated portraits! In total there are 148 pages of art work. The illustrations will all be printed in color on a coated, heavy weight matte paper. The book will be 8.5 x 11 and perfect bound with a gloss varnished soft cover. All this from 32 amazing artists.
So please check out our project. If you like gore, horror, the weird or the unusual, we would be grateful for your support!
We have until Sat, Jun 6 2014 1:54 AM EDT to make our goal.
Oh hey, it’s the thing I’m in! I did a comic for this that features that cat mascot I’ve been posting sketches of (and also a clown disemboweling a small child). There’s a ton of super rad artists who worked on this book, so please chip in a bit if it seems up your alley!
more of my weird cat thing
Older sketch. I was watching a Depression documentary about the practically cataclysmic dust storms and their effect of people and got an idea for this guy! Not sure if he’d be kindly or more of a villainous type, but it’s a good idea to rehash later.
(YOUR COMIC FOR VERTEBRAE IS PERFECT BY THE WAY)
I am so glad to hear that, you have no idea. By the time I was done with that thing I had completely convinced myself that it was too weird for a reader to understand or care about. Reassuring to know it’s not too bizarre to parse out!
Cannot WAIT to see what you came up with, by the way. I’ve been restraining myself from poking through other people’s folders so far, but who know if I’ll manage to hold out for the book or not.
BUDDIES FOR MY TERRIBLE CAT MASCOT (his name is Mr. Bupsy, by the way). The dog doesn’t even show up in The Thing I Did, but if I ever work more with them later (which is likely, since they’re so fun), she’ll definitely slaughter some children for the camera.
I’m not finished with these designs, but I do feel happy with the progress I’m making. Since they don’t have human proportions I’ve been trying to focus more on shape and balance and the more cartoony aspect of character design, which is quite challenging for me! There are a LOT of failed sketches in my book trying to figure out silhouette and proportion, and it feels great.
ghost-types asked: This may be a bit of a strange question, but do you plan on doing anything with Doe in the future? I mean I really love his character design and the idea of a Private Investigator that is also a giant mess of tentacles is really cool! So is he going to become anything anytime soon? Or is he just going to fade off into obscurity?
I’d like to think I’m going to keep Doe! It’s very fun to draw and you don’t spend ten weeks developing a character without getting somewhat attached. I do need to redevelop its backstory for a non-rpg setting, though, and I don’t have any immediate plans for it; even though I’m planning to do a personal comic project soon, Doe doesn’t currently have a solid enough story to be an option.
Like I said, though, I’m very fond of it and would really love to do some cheesy noir ripoffs with that creeper. I just need to better nail down the world it’s in and figure out which tone I’d take with the story, first.es
